A Message from our Sponsor Viqua

A UV system from VIQUA can protect your customers' drinking water! It’s an easy and effective way to neutralize any harmful microbes that may be in the water, without the use of chemicals to change the water’s taste or odor. Customers on well water should always have disinfection, and customers on city water will appreciate the added protection, especially as concerns about water quality and water infrastructure continue to rise.

UV water treatment adds a recurring revenue stream to your business with annual servicing and lamp replacement over the lifetime of the system. Let us show you how UV can grow your business, whether you focus on rentals or sales. Contact us at www.viqua.com.

Dear Dealers,

Please see the message below from Sandy Sapp at Culligan International. Unfortunately, employees of dealerships in Houston and Beaumont have lost their homes or they are unable to return home due to the devastation of Hurricane Harvey. I hope that we can all join together to help these employees today through a donation to Culligan Cares. These funds will go directly to help the Culligan employees in need of shelter, food, water, hygiene items, etc. Culligan International has graciously offered to match our donations up to $50,000!!

You can make a donation by clicking on this link CULLIGAN CARES!

Thank you for helping our Culligan Family!

Sincerely,

Bob Boerner

CDANA President

Dear Culligan Family,

As part of our relief efforts, over the past week we have deployed over 130,000 bottles of clean, safe Culligan water to dealerships in Texas as well as Convoy of Hope. Those efforts continue as requests come in.

We are now starting to hear from dealers about the challenges our own Culligan families are facing as a result of Harvey. Some have lost their homes, others have had to evacuate with the minimum of essentials, if anything at all. Some were forced to leave due to lack of water and power. And then there’s the unknown of what they will face when they return. They need help and they need it now, we know the worst is not over.

Culligan Cares and it’s time to help our own!

It’s simple…any donation made through PayPal on www.CulliganCares.org will be matched (Dollar for Dollar) by Culligan International. Culligan will match up to $50,000 in donations or more as needed, so please be generous.

All money donated will go to help Culligan employees cover basic needs, such as temporary housing, food, clothing, diapers, etc. We will be in contact with the dealers involved and work through the reimbursement details. Updates on donations will be shared with the Culligan network regularly.

We are counting on everyone to come together to make a difference and help our Culligan families and colleagues.

11 Traits of the Best of the Best

by Jon Gordon, Company Name

1. The best know what they truly want. At some point in their lives, the best have a “Aha!” moment when their vision becomes clear. Suddenly they realize what they really, truly want to achieve. They find their passion. When that happens they are ready to pay the price that greatness requires.

2. The best want it more. We all want to be great. But the best of the best are willing to do what it takes to be great. The best don’t just think about their desire for greatness; they act on it. They work hard and do the things that others won’t do, and they spend more time doing it.

3. The best are always striving to get better. They are always looking for ways to learn, apply, improve, and grow. They stay humble and hungry and are lifelong learners.

4. The best do ordinary things better than everyone else. For all their greatness, the best aren’t that much better than everyone else. They are simply a little better at a lot of things. They work hard to master the fundamentals. They don’t do anything different. They just do the ordinary things better.

5. The best zoom focus. The best focus on what matters most and tune out distractions. Distractions are the enemy of greatness and the best don't let distractions get in the way of their growth and improvement.

6. The best are mentally stronger. Life is not a sprint or a marathon. It’s a series of sprints combined with a boxing match. You’re not just running; you are getting hit along the way. The best are able to overcome adversity and challenges. with mental and emotional toughness.

7. The best overcome their fear. Everyone has fears. The best of the best all have fear, but they overcome it. To beat your enemy, you must know your enemy. Average people shy away from their fears. They either ignore them or hide from them. However, the best seek them out and face them with the intent of conquering them.

8. The best seize the moment. When the best are in the middle of their performance, they are not thinking “What if I win?” or “What if I lose?” They are not thinking “What if I make a mistake or miss the shot?” They are not interested in what the moment produces but are concerned only with what they produce in the moment. The best define the moment rather than letting the moment define them.

9. The best tap into a power greater than themselves. The best are conductors, not resistors. When the best look back on their life and accomplishments they know they didn't accomplish it alone. They know a higher and greater power guided and fueled them on their journey.

10. The best leave a legacy. The best live and work with a bigger purpose. They leave a legacy by making their lives about more than them.

11. The best make everyone around them better. They do this through their own pursuit of excellence and in the excellence they inspire in others. One person in pursuit of excellence raises the standards of everyone around them. And as they strive for greatness they bring out the greatness in others.

Culligan Cares Project Drills First Well in NY

In March 2017, the Water Well Trust received $10,000 for the first Culligan Cares project to fund a well for a family with five children in Stephentown, NY.

Gregory and Catherine Rafferty and their five children live in a house built by Gregory's great-great-grandfather in 1880. They are proud to be the fifth generation living in the house, which they inherited from Gregory's parents. They did not want to leave but were facing a crisis not of their own making: they had no safe water supply.

The home's shallow well ran dry several years ago and the Raffertys were getting their water from a nearby neighbor. They also purchased 7 cases of water a week for drinking and cooking. While this was a daily hardship, the real adversity they faced was that their children were teased and bullied at school because they were unable to bathe every day. Their clothes were washed infrequently, leading to more harassment.

In her application to the Well Water Trust, Catherine wrote:

"My family would be deepest in gratitude if you could help us and I as a mom would be forever thankful because I could tell my kids, yes, you can wash up in a tub before school just like every other kid and get a drink from the kitchen sink."

The Rafferty's new well was completed earlier this month by WSC member Smith Well Drilling, Inc., Niverville, NY. In order to stay within the budget for the well, the pump was donated by Goulds Water Technology, a Zylem Brand and the tank was donated by Flexcon Industries.
