Consumer Alert: Aggressive Water Filtration Salesmen

With recent water alerts and announcements in both the U.S. and Canada, there has been a rise in people posing as local water authority employees attempting to sell water filtration systems door to door. It’s unfortunate that under these circumstances, reports of residents complaining of salesmen using aggressive tactics are on the rise. But what’s just as important is separating fact from fiction to ensure your home receives clean water while avoiding these situations.

Typically, when there’s something wrong with your drinking water, you would reach out to your local water utility to report or fix the situation, or you would find a company that provides water treatment solutions, like filtration and softening. It’s rare — likely unheard of — that a representative would visit your home for any reason unannounced, especially to sell you something.
